About HeatSync Labs

Our Story

HeatSync Labs began as a grassroots effort to create a collaborative workspace where makers, artists, and technologists could come together to create, learn, and share knowledge. What started as a small group of passionate individuals has grown into the region’s leading community hackerspace.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we’re member-owned and operated, ensuring that our community’s needs always come first. Our 3,200 square foot facility houses everything from 3D printers and laser cutters to traditional woodworking and metalworking tools.

Our Mission

To provide an open, inclusive environment where creativity and technical education thrive. We believe in the power of community-driven learning and the importance of hands-on experience in developing both technical skills and innovative thinking.

Our Philosophy

HeatSync Labs is Arizona’s first hackerspace, built on open source principles: access for everyone, knowledge shared freely, and the belief that making things shouldn’t require permission or pedigree. We’ve been volunteer-run since 2009.

We’re a do-ocracy. Show up, make things, contribute back. The same ethos that makes open source work makes this space work: collaboration over gatekeeping, and no tolerance for people who break the build for everyone else.

Community Standards

We’re a community space for learning, building, and making things together. Everyone is welcome.

We actively support a diverse community. This includes, but is not limited to, LGBTQ+ makers, women and nonbinary folks, makers of color, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, beginners, and first-time makers.

All that’s expected is curiosity, respect for others, and a willingness to build together.
